Charging New Battery

for best battery life results out of my new laptop - can i charge the new battery while using the notebook simultaneously? or should i let the notebook sit shut down while the new battery is being juiced up?

I just let my new one charge up silent.


I know that if you use it, it charges slower. I am paranoid about battery conditioning... hehe

Lithium Ion batteries don't develope a "memory" so there shouldn't be any harm in charging the battery any way that you want. Completely discharging a LI battery will do more "harm" than anything else: The battery is limited to a fixed number of charge / discharge cycles before it stops taking a full charge. Hense the more you charge / discharge the battery the faster you cycle it through its rated life span...
