AS 5672 / Please help me verify something

I was having LCD problems with this notebook, and sent in the notebook for repair. It was fixed and sent back to me in three days. The service report claimed the motherboard was replaced. I haven't seen the problem again, but it was intermittant in the first place and I haven't used the notebook long enough to determine whether or not the problem was fixed.

Basically, I want to know if there is a way to see whether or not the motherboard was in fact replaced.

Also, on the front of the notebook, there are the three sound ports... My line out port is loose and one of the sound channels doesn't always work (guessing there's a contact problem). This was a problem before I sent it in... I was thinking depending on how the motherboard was connected to the sound ports, that the loose connector might be a way to indicate whether or not the board was actually replaced.

Thanks
KF

I believe it was Abraham Lincoln who said that if given the choice between opening his mouth ( or keyboard, in this case) and having something really stupid come out versus the humiliating scenario of having monkeys dressed as Rebel soldiers fly out his ass, he'd choose the monkey Rebel soldiers every time.

Please explain to me why the assumption was unreasonable? I have a desktop computer with an integrated sound card. If I take out the motherboard you can't see the connectors for the soundcard (you'd just see the cutouts on the back of the case). I thought that the same idea might apply with my notebook; seeing that the one of the ports was still loose made me suspicious about whether or not the motherboard had really been replaced.

In any case, all I want to do is verify that the motherboard has been replaced... there's no need for you to post useless messages in this thread.

Well, your reasonableness is refreshing at least. Notebooks are much more space-efficiently designed, as you can surmise. Unless you have 2 serial #'s for the mainboards, or did some custom mods to the original- which you obviously didn't- I dont think there's any way of determining what you ask. However, if you're adventurous enough to go inside it yourself....the Service Guide SG for this and many other models can be found at this ftp: ftp://www.synapsenow.com/documents/ knock yourself out and happy tweaking.
