Double-click on the VOLUME icon in the task bar, make sure you are showing all the components, then mute "Enhanced" or "3D" sound.

I'm not sure what it's called on the Sagers (I do not have mine with me at the moment), but there is a volume slider for something that creates "depth" for laptop speakers. This is usually the culprit.

There's also a sound manager program that might be running in the sytem tray. It's got 3d environment settings for everything from drugged to under water.

That sound program

I dont have it anymore. I think I didnt install the program when I did my installation of drivers - either that or I removed it using the control panels ADD-REMOVE programs function.

I havent had any problems since I removed it so I guess its ok

It certainly beats having to shut it down each and every time you start up the system...
