100.65 driver / Powermizer / Vista - Page 2

Gotcha. I know that the drivers flashed because it is listed as 7900GTX in the device manager. Just wondering if there is anything else that can be done.

Its the bios that you flashed...the drivers access the bios...Anyway, since I dont have vista, dont have a quadro, dont even have a 7x00 gpu ill stay out of this (I use different commands for powermizer on my 6800u-wonder if they'd still work in vista for other 6x00 users)
Hopefully someone else can help you but judging by Krayziepop, it appears time is the only thing that will help you...

Thx @zzpulp!

I have the version Revision 1 (rev.1) - bios 05.71.22.28.1, so my card is a revision one card.

There it does not make much sense you flash another bios to it, or?

I dont think you can flash any other bios to a rev 1 card other than a modified original...thats just my thoughts though, no one as far as I know has tried the 7950 bios on either rev 0 or rev 1 7900gs...I would think it would have higher probability of working on rev 1 (just bc I am almost certain it wont work on rev 0) but when you think about it the rev 1 bios was probably implemented strictly so you couldn't flash to higher model gpu's so this wouldnt be wise...Personally I'd try it but I'd most likely settle for copying various sections of each bios, catenating them, and getting nibitor to save the new file but thats just stupid ...In short, I have no real clue on whats going on with 7900's and whatnot since I have a 6800u, but I'd say that your only option is modding a rev 1 bios and flashing it rather than trying to use a different cards bios...

I flashed the 1v rom to my card, wich unlocks the frequencies and then i used the atitool to higher up the clock speeds.

Now i get 6600 points in 3dmark05 rather then 5700 before. Maybe i will try the 1,24v rom to go even higher with clock speeds, but until now i am pretty happy as it is now ... Even undervolted my t7200 so now it is running without cpu fan in office mode at 36 celcius and the gpu is running with the fan at low at 47 celcius ...

Regards!

Quick question: Anyone tried running the latest XP driver in Vista with compatibility mode on? Just wondering if that would work.
No, don't try the XP drivers in Vista... it will make a mess of your registry and won't work properly. The current 100.65 driver has been the best and most stable so far for me and now that the new version of ATITool lets us overclock in Vista, everything should be good to go (for now anyway) Like I have said before, if the current drivers don't suit your needs very well, just wait for a bit. New drivers are on the horizon again, so just hope for a better release next time.

I tried overclocking with ATITools, but all it did was lower my 3dMark05 score to 6100s. I guess I don't know what I'm doing with the program. All I did was increase the last two sliders to 600/800, saved it, and ran 3ddMark05. In ATITool, I used the graphical representation to see the difference that overclocking would make and it brought my average from 300s to 450s. So I figured it would have worked, but nooo....

Anyways, any ideas of what I might be doing wrong? BTW, I'm still flashed with the 7900GTX bios.

BTW, anyone tried running 3dMark05 with the stock dell drivers over the 100.65? I get the same weird artifacting on both, but wanted to know what the score difference is.

Thansk in advance...
