Cingular EDGE card replaceable?

I am looking into buying a used SZ230P/B. It comes with the built in EDGE. I don't plan to use this service at all. I was wondering if this is just a card that can be removed, and replaced with a different service(Sprint EVDO); or if it is something integrated to the mobo and bios.

Also, is the external antena only used for the WWAN, or is it used for a stronger WLAN as well?
