Vista Photo Gallery Slideshow crash

Hi all,

I've been running Vista Ultimate 32bit pretty much since it's release. I have an nVidia Geforce Go 7900 GTX which has no trouble handling Aero Glass or any games or videos I throw at it. However, I recently returned from my holidays and put some of my photos into the gallery, but every time I try to view them as a slideshow, it crashes.

Now I must admit that these images are quite big (2800x2800) however I don't want to resize them to preserve the details, and they show up fine in Windows Photo Gallery.

It seems that even medium sized images (800x600) cause choppy transitions when viewed as a full screen slideshow.

Any thoughts?

No, apart from "Windows Photo Gallery has stopped working"

The new Windows slideshow feature uses your graphics card to a pretty good extent to make the pictures slide in and out plus the optional transition effects. Basically what it boils down to is your graphics card drivers are causing the crashes. Download the latest 100.65 driver set from laptopvideo2go.com for the best experience. If you are using those drivers currently, then go into the device manager, and uninstall the 7900GTX manually, and make sure the box is checked to delete the driver software for that device. Then uninstall the drivers from the control panel "Programs and Features". Reboot the system, then reinstall the 100.65's and you should be all set. Let me know if that helps ya!

***EDIT***

By the way, all my pictures from my Canon Digita Rebel are 3072x2048 at 6.3MP with approx. file sizes of 3-4MB a piece, and i have no problems running on a 7900GS flashed with the GTX bios. Smooth as silk transitions. Quite a nice feature if you ask me!

Thaks for the advice, I believe I found the problem. Amongst my photos was a video, and selecting the pictures and omitting the video resulted in a silky smooth slideshow. I find that the transitions get better once windows has displayed them all at least once.

Thanks again!

I want to do both pictures and video without it being jerky. Will Intel X3100 graphics card not do it with a dual core 1.73 GHz and 3 GB RAM???
