Gateway MX6453 not running like it used to...

I used to be able to play Call of Duty on my MX6453 just fine. Super smooth, no slow-downs at all. Well, about 2 months ago I noticed it started slowing wayy down. I can't even play the game anymore, even at 800x600!!!

I'm using windows xp pro, have 2GB of ram, AMD Turion X2 TL-52, a 100GB 7200RPM hard drive, and the ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 graphics solution that's built into it, which I think i have set to 256MB of Video RAM.

But, any ideas why this might be happening?? I've tried defrag, closing any running programs in the sys. tray. The only thing I didn't try is completely re-installing windows.

Can someone help please!!!

Have you tried virus/malware scans, cleaning your vents and fans, stopping unnecessary processes, and services?

May not be the culprit causing your problems, but I would uninstall Mcafee completely and try either AVG or Avast. Each is easier on system resources than Mcafee.

Tried uninstalling Mcafee. Didnt help anything. Turned all settings down in the game, and installed Omega ATI drivers. Set those to 'highest performance'. No change at all. Please help!!!
