Upgrading 7700

I have a 7700 with a 3.6ghz p4 chip and it can't even handle supreme commander on the lowest settings. Since it is a LGA775, can i just replace it with a quad / duo core processor LGA775 type into it without problems?

Unfortunately not. The bios in the machine does not support duo core. And never will.

Not only the BIOS, but the 915 chipset does not support the pentium D 8** & 9** series or the core 2 duo E 6*** series, the E has a FSB of 1066 MHz, as oppposed to the m7700's 800 MHz.
