A little disappointed ... Sentia 233 dead battery

I'm an AW boy through and through soon to buy a 3rd system.

My wife's 2 year old Sentia 12.1 inch notebook (233) has a battery that lasts around 30 to 40.... seconds (we've timed it! ). I called AW (in Ireland) to see if and how we could buy a new one and they simply weren't interested, no sorry ... just get off the phone.

It has a 3 year warranty and yes... I know the battery isn't covered by this. I also know batteries don't last forever. But I am annoyed they didn't want to know and more upset they have no system of sourcing parts for a system still in warranty. If it was 5 years old and they stopped doing it years ago then I'd understand. I didn't want anything for nothing... my credit card was ready to go.

It's no longer a mobile system.. shame. The dude on the phone certainly wasn't a good advert for 'sales' let alone AW. Small things like this put some people off.

I've searched many combinations and found a few links of 3rd party sites selling batteries. Didn't find any that applied outside the US.

However, my point wasn't really where do I get one. It was more of a disappointment that AW don't supply parts (to buy) for 3 years (that being the extended warranty) after they stop selling a product. It's a fine line... and again I stress that I know batteries have a limited life and AW aren't obliged to cover it under the warranty as is the industry standard.

I'm just saying that by purchasing a warranty - or from their perpective... selling a warranty, they are saying that your machine will function under that period under their care. I mean, if any other part malfunctioned they can source that. But now the battery has gone the "mobile" from the notebook has simply gone.

I don't really think it's appropriate (referring to my initial post) that I wasn't helped at all, or that they can't sell me a battery. At the very least they should have contact details of a third party to direct customers to. Customer retention is everything; the person on the phone asking for a menial battery could be about to buy another system (like me) or even more. Why fob them off? If I wasn't a complete and utter fan of theirs I'd be thinking... gees... you need to work harder than that for me to give you my hard earned money.

Just disappointed, nothing else.

I agree with you Bear Head, they should either be able to order the part for you, or refer you to somewhere you can order it...

I know in the US they used to refer people to the base platform manufacturer, but I don't know what that is for the sentia.

Is it Uniwill? Clevo?

Uniwill has an outlet store that sells batteries on the net, google for uniwill outlet. rjtech.com sells clevo parts, so they may be able to source a battery and they ship overseas.

You can also try to contact them to see if they can find it for you.
