Asus M6N utilities

Hey All-

Having a heck of a time finding the hotkey utility for this thing, so I can link the wireless button to shutting my intel 2200 radio on and off.

Anyone know? The driver CD that shipped with didnt have it, and the asus site doesnt either. Yet, I have the buttons...

Hi Eric,

I went through the ame thing looking for the hotkey applcation that they write about in the M6N documentation. I don't think it exists. The closest I came was an Asus notebook hotkey utilty that looked like the pictures ( of the hotkey applciation) but it didn't actually allow me to remap the hotkeys.
You can find that here
http://www.asus.com.tw/download/notebook/nb-a1000f.htm

I though the wireless button should work from the get go with the Intel card?
Does anything happen when you press the wireless button ? On mine I get an error message saying that it could not load the intel Proset API...

Hey Manny-

BTW, we need our own asus forum it seems, hehe.

I just discovered that most of the keys do work! Just not the wireless one. No error, it just doest do anything.

I think the hotkeys are part of another utility, maybe one of the ones that is new. I will update things later. (I suspect its the power4gear utility)

Still running on factory bios, btw.

Are you saying that your hotkeys don't work, or that you're unable to remap them to app of choice?? I've yet tried to remap anything, but all my hotkeys work. I ordered my unit sans wireless pending availability of the Intel 2200, howeer, so I cannot test the wireless button on/off function specifically.

If your hotkeys are not working, you need to install Hcontrol

Part of ATK0100.

You should something like

C:\WINDOWS\ATK0100\Hcontrol.exe

In your windows "run" key in the registry.

---fixed that

Dl'd the latest ATK drivers, didnt fix it. Color me stumped.

I got the latest ATK and Intel 2200 drivers. Not sure what else to do.

I too have the same problem with the wireless key on and off not working. The rest of the keys function normal but are not remappable. I installed the M3N hotkey util (in a futile attempt) and it of course didn't work either. Have any of you guys seen your wireless LED light up? What color is it?

Thanks.

TO Specify-

I have the new intel 2200 b/g card, in my m6n. I Have the most recent drivers, both for the ATK and the wlan card. Only thing I can think of is doing it in the wrong order, I put the wlan drivers in first. I might try reapplying the lan drivers after the ATK patch.

Seeing as I got free 24/7 techsupport on this bad boy, I put them on it. I dont care about figuring it out myself, just getting it done. Will post solution as I learn of it.

Hey guys-

As of now, no solution. It would appear, since Asus puts out the hotkey driver that interfaces with the intel 2100 adapters driver, that the sw for the 2200 should support it. According to my techsupport, right now they do not. Heh, the guy told me it always stays on... and asked me why I wanted to turn it off anyhow! Oh man, I laughed at him for that, too surprising at the time.

BTW, my front LED appears to work for the wireless on/off feature, and its blue Manny.

On the subject of if/when the m6n and intel 2200 wireless card might play together better a la hotkeys, does anyone have access to or a suggestion for a contact at asus? Webweaver, you seem to have a good line of intel through them- could you ask?

Thanks, I learn anything else I will pass it on.

wait, the new bios didn't work for me! Eric, did the driver installation order have anything to do with it?

Orbdude-

WHat happened, is after I refreshed with the new bios, XP pro said it found new hardware, and wanted a reboot almost immediatly. I believe it was something from the atk100 driver set. You can see the atk100 stuff if you do into the hardware/device manager, and the system stuff. It installs all your varios ACPI features.

I dont know what it found. But you might try reapplying the atk100 latest driver, then the latest lan driver. But again- I solved this on the m6, not the m3.

Orb-

I have the 2200b/g card. The 2100 card is a different animal.

But, should be easy to do. Did you install the intel proset utility?

Bios/ATK100drivers/latest 210drivers/latest 2100 utilities in that order.

Be careful flashing your bios too...

Funny you should ask-

I hit up Asus again, asked them if there was some sw switch I could put in to make it work with programs other than outlook. They said... no. Outlook only. I figure, I dont loke outlook specific virus', another MS product to patch up hourly, so heck. That light aint workin, and I dont care. Oh well!

If you do use outlook, supposedly you just load up the checkmail utility, downloadable from asus. Reboot, and voila! You have another LED. Crack a beer.
