How do I remove the cpu on a 8600?

Hi,

I have my 8600 with the fan out, KB out & the heatsink out. I cant quite figure out how the CPU is supposed to be removed. I see a screw on the CPU area that might do it, but I am not really sure.

Are their any docs on how to remove the 8600 CPU?

Thanks,
Rich

Can we do pin mod on 8600 cpu too?

Nope. 400MHz FSB = no pin mod.

Just curious, since my 400mHz Dothan has been in my i8600 for a while now.

What's the pin mod?

Basically, if you have a 533MHz Pentium-M compatible chipset, you can make a modification to joining pins on a 400MHz Dothan chip, which in effect makes it runn on a 533MHz bus speed. For example, a 1.6GHz would run at about 2.13GHz via this mod. Cheap way to get a fast CPU.

Of course... warrenty out the window... and will only work if your system supports 533MHz bus anyway (which the i8600 does not).
