Try going to the device manager and update the driver manufally, then select the location for the driver. Does all other drivers except the card reader work in 64bit? I might try it if that's the case.

I tried that, but it gave me an error....or I selected the wrong type of device. TI didn't show up in anything.

Yes, everything works, webcam (logitech quickcam), printer (canon pixma IP4000), logitech USB speakers V20, the whole enchilada except for the card reader. My Ipod 30gig video syncs just fine. I am waiting on an Epson 1650 scanner driver from Epson though.

Good morning,

I uninstalled and re-installed and all went well.

Download the .zip,
Extract to temp (or similar)
run the isscript.exe and you should be away.

Oh yeah, don't forget the permissions thing, mine was a pop-behind so took a while to see that it was asking permission to access the system.

Please let me know if it still fails and I'll get a copy on my .zip to you as the other may be a corrupt file.

All the best nad good luck

Rich

Hey Rich.....it's isscript.msi right? I was running setup.exe which was giving me the error. Also, is your mass storage controller orphaned (no driver) in device manager? I'll PM you.

Please write the final solution here so others can read it too.

This version of BIOS lowers the FSB so that we lose a few MHz from both the procesor and the ram. I'm back to 3A21 which was the last BIOS release that didn;t have that issue

You're wrong. It was 3A23 that had the FSB speed change introduced, not 3A27. Acer just didn't change it back in 3A27. The FSB change was made to fix some kind of EMI interference... whatever that was. Please get the facts right before you post... it misleads people.

So did the 3A23, but I honestly doubt that you can feel the difference between 796MHz and 800MHz at idle and running on high, 1990MHz and 2000MHz If you do, feel free to do a 4 and 10 MHz overclock :P

LOL....my Ferrari came with 3A23 so I definitely won't feel any difference

Hi guys, I finally managed to install card reader drivers for vista-64 on my ferrari 4005 so I want to share it with you:
- Right click on Mass Storage device on Device manager
- Click on Update Driver
- Point your x64 TI card driver file (Bin64)
- It says updating driver... and updates it really.

OK....twilight zone here....what is the exact name of the file to which I point? Can you link the download for us Rod Serling fans?

Thanks!

ok, I will give more detailed info:

- download pcmcia x64 drivers from http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/data/7117/documents/PCMCIA_CardReader_TI7411(1.0.3.6_logo'd).zip

- unzip the file to a certain location (eg. desktop)

- uninstall previous installations of TI drivers

- open device manager and right click on "mass storage device" and click update driver

- when it prompts for new driver choose manual browsing and locate the x64 driver folder

- there is a "Bin64" subfolder in it. choose this folder and click ok.

This way it installed the card driver & "mass storage device" icon disappeared on my 4005 and reader started operating.

Good morning,

Apologies for the delay in reply to your PM.

After I uninstalled mine and re-installed to check, mine gave up, it is recognised, but it will not write to any cards.

Glad you got your's sorted.

All the best regards

Rich

YOU DA MAN !!!!!! My Cardreader is WORKING, and I'm using VISTA 64, NOT 32, VISTA 64!! do what he he said, but search the entire C:\\ drive to update (install) the Mass Storage Controller driver (manually) which shows up orphaned in Device Manager beforehand. I could not find the folder you mentioned, but the file was found somewhere, and yes, Mass Storage Controller disappeared in Device Manager, and NOW the card reader shows up as an "INTEGRATED" card reader.

3 Posts??? God'ammed, you make 'em good when you post 'em, don't ya ?

You are the hero to us twilight zoners....:-)

Where can we all Paypal you your reward?

Ok guys thank you for your nice comments.. I only wanted to share my headache with the card reader which I use heavily on my 4005. And I'm extremely happy that it worked for you...

Hey Weakstorm.....people all over the net, with different brand notebooks, have been trying to get their card readers to work...it seems the file has been there, but the installation method was obscure to some of us....I use my cardreader much too, now all I need is an Epson Scanner driver :-)
