UT2004 Demo runs on mine, low res of course.
I have tried UT2004 demo on my Sentia at the default settings and it ran just fine.

Are you having problems during install or running the program?

UT2004 even works on an older computer with 32MB video. (default settings)

TOS, One thing I would suggest it make sure you have the turbo button enabled (speedstep).

if i enable that, my system dies randomly

Oh dear When it's enabled you CPU is running at full speed, my case 1600Mhz, with it disabled it can be running at 300Mhz...
Also, have you tried running UT with the power plugged in? Does it make a difference?

TOS,

How is your computer? You have posted a few questions which would suggest that you are having problems with your laptop. Could you put together a list of issues you have encountered and what steps you have taken to resolve it - if resolved.

booga,

the only problem i have faced with the system so far is the random shutting down of it... its kinda of sparadic.. however, i have a hunch that it occurs everytime i use my hard drive a little to much - writing big files, opening big files.. or running any system intensive procecesses.

i havent found a solution for the problem yet.. it is kind of hard to explain to the tech support too...

That sounds very odd...definately something that you should get fixed under warranty, even if you have to send it in. I know it's a pain in the @ss to be without your laptop, but I would be even more upset that I couldn't use the thing to it's full potential.

agreed... i am gonna test it for another few days.. and send it in if doesnt work....

i have 2 other laptops and another desktop sitting next to it.. and the other 2 seem to turn off on their own sparodically too... i'd goto sleep and when i wake up, one of them is off... kinda strange.. could be the power.. or the laptop god giving them some rest?? (i never turn my machines off.. hehe )

If you want to get a kick, run UT2K4 in software mode, it's funny

The software renderer itself isn't so bad, but it renders stuff at different resolutions; your HUD and weapon are at native res, whereas the rest of the world is at half-res (quarter res if you actually count the number of pixels) and then scaled up with bilinear filtering to full size. Also textures are, shall we say, a tad low res. Like terrain is 10x10 instead of 1024x1024
post #17 of 21
As said, you run it at 1400x1050 which sounds great but what texture settings are you using? have you stayed with the defaults..?

Also, how do you get that res? not available in my list..

Has anyone tried running Battlefield Vietnam or Command and Conquer Generals on their Sentia yet? If anyone has let me know how it is!
Well, UT2004 will run on my Sentia, but only at normal and low res.

Im just spoiled to my ATI Radeon 9800 Pro in my main machine...

Hey, where is archalien? Come out of the woodworks man, I know you're out there somewhere. Those of us with long memories remember your wonder thread back in Feburary.

Not to be mean or anything, but has your opinion changed?

edited: for those who don't remember, I was one of those random users offended by his tone and approach to the topic rather than an organized discourse in the capabilities of the machines. Now I see threads like this one and am reminded of his "opinion" that he voiced so loudly.
