Hello! Well, I'm in the market for a new (to me) laptop/notebook. I've done some research and found some that I might like, but I wanted to see if there were any in particular that you would recommend. Basically, I will be needing it for Word processing, email, internet, and some basic games - as I will be attending a college like enviorment this upcoming fall and need a dependable system.

Some of the things I'm looking for are:
  • Good resolution (possible SXGA or WXGA)
  • WiFi Wireless
  • at least 512 MB of RAM
  • light (5ish lbs)
  • thin (1ish inches thick)
  • at least 40 GB Hard Drive
  • a Pentium M processor (1.6 Ghz or better)
  • Touchpad, maybe a trackpoint too
  • CD-R/W
  • DVD-ROM
  • Runs at least XP Home...XP Pro prefered
  • Fairlly good battery...min 2.5 hrs
  • maybe 14" screen (full or widescreen)
  • portable - somthing that i can move around easy
  • not that expensive - maybe $400-600 used/refurbished (or new too)
Also, I don't really need a 'state of the art' laptop..just a reliable system that is good for office type processing and some basic 3D games (not that high tech though). For this reason it doesn't have to be brand new...just in good working order.

Is there anything that you would recommend that would be a good choice? Any comments would be very much appreciated!!
