I just want to let everyone know that after over 20hrs of frustration, phone calls to Hitachi and HP/Compaq technical support, the Hitachi E7K100 hardrive is NOT compatible with this machine due to the fact that HP stopped upgrading the bios's in this series of notebook.
Actually, they tell me any hardrive over 5400RPM or 100GB will not work what so ever.
It's too bad since I can put this drive into a 5yr old laptop and it works perfectly. Considering this X6000 is full size desktop replacement notebook, it's a shame.
If anyone from HP is reading this, PLEASE upgrade the bios on the Presario X6000 series
