I am thinking about getting a new macbook but I was if i should wait till leopard launches. Does anyone have any idea when apple is going to start loading their new pcs with it?

if u dont need it, just wait.

it should be out within 2 months i would imagine.

this question is asked so much, it hurts

if u dont need the laptop, just wait, its really almost here at this point

*statement retracted on price* if you can wait then wait if you need it now go for it. you can always not upgrade its not like they will stop supporting the OS (you can still get security updates for 10.1)

Kal, where are you buying your upgrades at?

OS X has generally been 150 dollars full retail and 69 for educational. Amazon usually has it for around 100 or so.

300$? come on now! this isnt Windows Vista Ultimate Super Duper Platitum Xp 8000. better known as Windows Apocolypse haha

wow, where the heck have u been shopping? 10.3 and 10.4 were both $129 from day one of their releases w/ the noted price availabilities that others have mentioned.

whops guess i am wrong on this one I seemed to remember when tiger came out that it was a hefty chunk of change? maybe I am just dreaming

I retract my statement

i'm guessing that having more frequent OS releases allows them to sell be sold for more reasonable price than what MSG (Microsoft Gouge) sells for.

Considering the sheer volume of sales of Windows compared to OS X, however, you'd think they wouldn't have to charge 500 dollars for Vista Premium to make their money back.

When Leopard launches, are the laptops that come with it going to increase in price?
Historically, no.

You can just buy it now if you order through the ADC. As far as I've heard, they send you OS upgrades for 1 year.

$100 will pay for 20% off + OSX Leopard ... someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Do they send you os's through student account? I didn't see that mentioned in what's included.

no, buy the macbook now. Then when Leopard comes, just install it. And another question, I have a 1998 or 1999 iMac, I have OSX on it right now without a problem. Will Leaopard run on it ok? I have 768 mb of RAM, and I have like 15 GB of HDD space left, am I ok?
