Closing the Screen

When I close the screen on my computer some funky things seem to happen.

Sometimes it crashes completely when I re-open the screen. This seems especially likely if I hibernate manually (I don't have any automatic power saving turned on), and close the screen before it finishes.

However, a more common problem is that if I close the screen for an extened period of time (long enough for it to request the password to continue working), and then re-open it, my resolution decreases. However, it doesn't actually have fewer pixels on the desktop, it just has this "zoomed in" appearance. If I sign in, close the screen, and re-open it, everthing is back to normal.

I am running the omega drivers for the x1400.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds to me like something is going on with you drivers and/or your OS. I think when you close the lid, its sending a signal to an external monitor (the VGA port). A lot of laptops do this by default. Try to reinstall the newset video drivers available. Also, do you have Dells Notebook System Software installed?

I'll try rolling back the driver and reinstalling. And as far as system software goes, I still have whatever crap dell pre-loaded on here.

Download the newest driver from Dell for your video card and then dont rollback the driver. Just flat out uninstall the video cards driver. Then install the new one.
