Anything I should know about the 5760 before plopping down a good lump of chage?
The goods the bads give it to me.

poor touchpad and sound drivers (i don't have any issues with these, others do)

noisey middle fan (only when it comes on, I don't have this problem but others do)

noisey cd drive when the cd is spinning, this is a flaw with a lot of laptops, but it's still a flaw

some really really crappy support from certain sager resellers, not all are bad, but PC Torque and Flawless should be avoided (check out this list for info on all resellers)

just buy from a good reseller and you won't have any regrets

Thanks.
I was going to order from PCtorque.
I just wish the damn XPSm1710 would come down in price a little and I would buy that

just buy an m90 at the outlet, the 2500m games about the same as the 7900gtx

the m90 also comes with a standard 3 year warranty

also i would not buy from PC Torque, they're going to leave you hanging if you have problems with your warranty. there's still threads about them not answering e-mails

see here

I bought a NP 5760 in December direct from Sager. The unit came DOA, but instead of sending it back I checked and both ram moduals were not snapped in, a bad on Sagers part.

However the laptop has ran flawless since, a real power house. I use it for CAD work and Half Life 2 runs very smooth with the Quadro vid card.

The touch pad has some buttons that don't do nothing. Other then that everything else works fine. Fan noise isn't a problem.

I'm happy with the 5760, it was cheaper by hundreds then the Dell M90.

Why should I? Sager shipped it right out and to my door step. What difference does it make? Sager does sell their own products you know?

Nothing too bad to report about mine so far. Few minor grumpinesses re: touchpad drivers, but since I generally disable it and use my Logitech MX500, it's not so much of an issue.

Other that that, a solid machine. Don't think you'll go wrong w/ it.

if you buy an m90 from the outlet, it's cheaper than a 5760 with the 2500m

dell ships these right away since they're already made

i'm just stating that there's another alternative

I have had a 5760 for between 4 and 6 months now. I use it mainly for school (programming and stuff like that) but I also game on it. I have had a few driver issues (dvd rw drive went funky on me twice) but a simple reinstall of the drivers cured the problem. I would highly recommend buying one. Also, as others have said I would avoid PC Torque due to the seeming increase in unsatisfied customers.

greenmeanie,
There's nothing wrong with PCTorque. Some people bought 3rd party warrantees from a company that went out of business through pct. Some of those individuals make their voice very well known here and choose to place the blame on PCTorque. Everyone *should* know that buying an extended 3rd party warantee from a no-name company is like agreeing to a fog light defroster extra from a car salesman.

I've not had issue with pct and don't blame them for not getting back to some of their more abusive customers. I'm not saying pct is perfect, but guys like rickster take every chance possible to let his opinion be known.

Also realize pct changed hands exactly as this debacle took place so the new management had a nearly impossible situation on their hands. I'm not here to defend them, I just get annoyed by people like rickster on a personal mission to defame a company.

Oh no, it's not just their lack of response to people who have the 3rd party warranty, there's other disturbing facts that I have discussed with people. And when I brought those other issues up, I got temp banned. It was a very pathetic action.
