Hi Guys,I have an Acer TM 2420.
I downloaded and installed the Mandriva Live CD.
everything worked great, i loved it and would like to switch to Mandriva for good but the problem is that i don't know how to install drivers and its getting frustrating.
I downloaded intel 2200b/g driver for my wireless card but stil can't make out how to install it.
It shows on my hardware list but just don't know where to start install, you know like windows u just run the .exe file or update driver in hardware manager.
Please can some one run me through the detail process to install drivers for my wireless card.

this really depends.

many drivers already come with the kernel and you simply need to modprobe the module (usually done automatically during boot) and then just set it up and go.

some drivers come in installable packages (in mandriva's case in RPM) which you just install it (open the package manager or in terminal "urpmi -i packagename")

other drivers you have to download the source code and build it.

first of all, seeing as you're a linux n00b i have no idea why in the world you're using mandriva. but that said.... if you do a little googling you can find all your answers http://www.linux-noob.com/forums/lof...php/t2625.html

You said everything worked great so there are no drivers needed. Most linux dostros use the 2.6 kernel and that supports a huge base of hardware. I use Ubuntu on my Toshiba laptop and it supports everything except my wireless card (I use a PCMCIA version). I use Edgy right now but Feisty is coming in April and it supports my wireless card (Live CD). Morale of the story if all your hardware works on the Mandriva live CD then it will work when you install it. I recommend Ubuntu over Mandriva but it is a personal choice. Go to the Mandriva forums to install the built in wireless.
