i have a gateway 3520GZ i'm trying to fix. Windows will start but soon go to the blue screen. it says "bad_pool_header" and tells me to check new hardware and such. i opened it up to see if there was any obvious problems but found none.
help please??

sounded like a bad driver sticking somewhere (typical in xp-sp2 . that is what i presume that u have, right?

what have u done to the system prior to this error? replacing hardware (which ones)? installing new hardware (which one)? what were u trying to fix?

cheers ...

it was previously my brothers computer, so i'm working with no knowledge of what has been done. i was just taking a quick look at it. i'll be sure to find out so i have some idea of where to start.
thanks for the reply, and as soon as i find out what he did, i'll be sure to let you know.

The minidump information (assuming no one turned the dumps off), could be helpful in this situation. See if there is anythingin the C:\Windows\minidump folder. If there is, post them or if you want, feel free to mail them to me (thunderpc at gmail dot com)

would i still be able to find files in the computer though?
the blue screen comes up as windows is loading and never actually loads completely.
i didn't think i would be able to see the computer's contents in its current state,
but if i am, please fill me in.
thanks
