FYI, I found it much easier to do a clean install on my 9860 when I was able to boot from the Vista DVD rather than attempting to do a clean install by running the Vista DVD installation program from within XP.
There are a number of people who have been able to install Vista on their 98xx's. For 9890 owners, here is a thread someone started to indicate what hardware works and what doesn't: http://www.notebookforums.com/thread190334.html
. If you still can't seem to get Vista to install on your 9890 then I can think of several possibilities...
1. You're using the wrong driver.
2. You're not following the right procedure.
3. You're using a non-genuine or proprietary OEM version of Vista for specific computer brand/model.
4. Clevo changed/modified the controller in the latest mobo version.
