Jay,

Wow, I can't believe they pulled the XPS/9100's. Hopefully they'll come back bigger (well, maybe not bigger) and stronger than before.

Looks like you made the right decision. We really need to get you an Area51m

Cut him some slack guys...

It can be infuriating dealing with problems after spending a large amount of money. I totally get where Kourn is coming from.

That said: give them a chance to fix it Kourn. I'm sure they will. I got my ire up last week over that new chip and the free shipping promo...and they apologized and got it right. I'm sure they will get yours right as well....

Hope everything turns out for you!
I'm gettin my Desktop in today, and I hope it goes smoothly.... I'll post an update later tonight...

I think dell will get it right the second time around. it was there first shot at the gaming laptop and i think they did they right thing to pull the plgu quick...

im sure they got a ton of feedback and know what to improve upon.

they are a good company and im sure they will put out a much better product on the second go round. we know the hardware wont be an issue.

i didnt mean to get on shi case if thats what the toen of my message came off as, just tryign to awnser some questions and maybe suggest some possibilities.

the thing is alot of people who are interested/excited about AW laptops come here. mesages like these may turn them away from what could potentially be a great purchase that they will love.

i almost cancelled my order because of some posts on this board before i got mine and braingoo thankfully talked me out of it. i am very glad he did because my machine is everything i had hoped.

i can see if you have a bad experience and want to warn people before making a bad purchase, but ther eis a more calm and subjective way of criticising as well.

hey mailman

how much do you charge for MANLY LESSONS

and oh yea GEEEEE i would have never figured out how to reformat my machine seeing as how i went to college for somputer programming.... you obviously didnt see my point

let me put it to you like this

if you went out and bought a big cevy pickup truck with a gunrack.... and they told you that they testdrove it and made shure all the nuts and bolts were tight.... including the bull horns on the hood.... and then when you got it the tires fell off and the transfer case shredded all the gears.... wouldnt you be a lil upset that they lied to you and didnt do what they said they did....

and one other thing
my assuming your a redneck is just the same as you assuming that i have tons of spyware running and im a stupid user....

assuming makes an ass out of you and me

thanks again for your input.... i will pull up my huggies and send the machine back.... i just shouldnt of had to

THATS ALL

Now I can run around and tell everyone I got it pulled from the market

As far as AW, the money is setting on my Credit Card just waiting for the right GPU (if I don't pull the trigger sooner). Shouldn't be long now.

I kind of got a kick out of the situation yesterday, it was my expected delivery date on the original (dell) system, it was instead the date they got it back from UPS, never to be seen again. Amen

and Kournikova,
My heart goes out too you brother, when all that stuff happened to me in the last few weeks with dell, I was running around in a tissy for 2-3 weeks. One of my whole goals was to hurt dell in anyway I could. The option I chose seemed to work somewhat well from remarks that I've seen on the dell forum. I just created my own thread, as you've already done here, and kept updating the information as it went along. People find it, read it, and use it too form their opinions. I am extremely happy knowing that what I said was used for others to make their decision. Unfortunately for dell, they're willingness to even recognize my existance as a customer has not changed even to this date.

As Aurora indicated, it really sucks being a bad statistic, when you did nothing wrong to deserve the situation. Stick with it and keep us posted on this thread. No one will know what that feels like until it happens to them. Just take a few deep breaths before posting, and form your thoughts, for your own sanity.

Hang in there

You said you did nothave problems until after you started installign stuff...

out of the box it worked fine?

i would think then AW probably didnt have any problems with it when they had it. maybe it was a shipping issue. theyre have been other posters t get there machiens where they actually had damage to the case it self form shipping.

im sure if all it takes to get a blue screen is turn it on then there is no way they would have shipped it out.

As one who got rooked hard by Dell, I must admit to a certain degree of sneaking delight at the troubled XPS/9100. It makes me even more eager to give Alienware a second chance with their upcoming AMD model.

I think your truck anaology is a bad one. as it describes major hardware failure.

if you got your 51m and the cdrom drive was broken, the keyboard was falling off and the monitor didnt turn on, then maybe....

if i buy a car and i drive it for a month and my engine light keeps coming on or its making rattlign noises or it drifts to one side... i simply take it in for maintenece.

i had my car recalled because of a possible fuel leak problem with the model. i took it back and they fixed it. these things happen.

thats why they have a policy t fix anything free of charge. cause they know they arent perfect and defects, problems while shipping, and other thigns may occur.

i sitll do not think that they lied to you....

they have lied about thigns to other people, i dont se ethis as one of them.

Alienware is a great company.... ive never waited more that 2 mins to speak to someone.... they have called me back when they said they were going too.... and im 100% shure they will resolve it.... like ive said from the very get go.... im pissed that i even have to do this

thats all
and i dont care what any of you say....

i PERSONALLY beleve that the system check is NOT as good as they claim.... its my opinion thats all.... and all you that have good working machines claim they do it and all US that have lemons claim they dont.... im not bashing the company and all in all i think ive benn very decent throu all this.... i work in the concert bizz and ive seen customers spend 30.00 on a ticket and get into physical fights because there seats were printed wrong.... so i think im being quite good trough all this

im not trying to shy customers away.... i just think the full spectrum of the chart should be represented here.... good and bad

shure no company is perfect.... but alienware get pretty damm close to PERFECT when they talk of there systems.... you kinda expect that.... like buying a bently over a Geo Metro....

these things are custom by my standards

so they should act custom

thats all
didnt mean to piss anyone off

you didnt piss me off, and you say you are nto trying to turn customers off... i believe you...

but a subject line like "AW lies more than the governement all must read" in caps is kinda of serving that purpose.

plus its kind of a bold statement for an opinion and not fact.

The Alienware Official forum would never delete a thread like this. I think its best to follow that direction. Unless you choose to delete it. IT is Your thread. This would be a good place to update us when your machine gets back home to you. Maby you can change the name of the thread though. Its not easy to be angy. I give you a lot of credit because anyone can tell that your so pissed that its hard to find the good "f" words. c'mon, we all been there before. hint: Maby you can change the name of the thread though. good luck Kourn!

Does anyone think maybe all these problems have to do with coming from balmy moist Florida to another location so quickly? It's a log-shot, but if I were AW's lawyer, I'd keep that in mind. All joking aside, I really am worried. And my luck has never been good. I'm gonna be shaking in my boots when I open that box tomorrow.
