Thread Starter
I have been very pleased with this Notebook performance is really good. Works really well with Vista, Memory is exandable up to 4GB Plus you can always stick a Flash Drive into your USB and enable Readyboost to get that extra edge.

I have an Acer Aspire 5050 3371 that I bought used from someone for $100.  But they must have taken Vista off of here and put Windows XP cuz that's the operating system... It seems to work ok, but I am used to Vista now so I wish they would not have done that!  Is there anyway to restore it without the disks or anything?

If you still have the Vista COA key underneath the notebook, then just borrow some Vista installation disk, or search the net for legitimnate Vista ISO download and use it

Or check and see if the recovery partition is still present and use that instead.

cheers ...

If the recovery partition is still on there, you could try pressing Alt-F10 and that should restore it to how is was out of the box with Vista...but having said that, if someone has taken Vista off and put on XP, then the chances of the recovey partition still being there is very slim

Thanks.  Yeah it's gone.  I have the recovery disks I made for my Desktop....Pentium HP.  Could I use them to put Vista on my Acer?

No... recovery disks are specific to the brand and model...you cant use recovery disks for a Aspire 5050 on 7720...each model has its own recovery based on its hardware design..
