Well, looks like the same chassis as the 98xx series. Wonder if the dual 9750GTXs will cause the thing to explode.

I'd imagine an overhaul of it would include dual 8800 GTX's, where the thing would just vaporize when plugged in.

I loved it until I saw the thickness and the sides of the laptop

That's true, but people still bought the 98xx series.

Is the chipset can be compatible on the intel quad core?...if it does this systme is a must... or could waht for the Nvidia 8000 go series graphis card.
Thats a new chassis. It may be kinda similar to the 98x0 laptops, but the chassis is brand new. Looks a little better in my opinion

The chipset is supposed to be compatable with quad cores, and theres been a lot of sites saying that its going to have the 8 series cards in it when they finally come out.

I dont think the laptop can support quad cores because of the extra power consumption (and probably heat issues)

Looks like a nice model. I wonder if I can cook a baked potato with all the heat coming out the back.

Anyone know if this machine will be compatible with the Penryn chip when it comes out later this year?

Supposively around mid may. But I believe it will be backordered for a month, at least. They do support the x6800 [core 2 extreme] which I believe is on par with the quads using around 135 TDP. But I could be wrong. [normal core 2's use 65TDP i think, up to the 6700]

The estimated first shipment of these notebooks is for first week in may. However, these have been available for pre-order for some time now. This is means that it will be first come, first served and anything ordered close to that date probably wont go out for a few weeks due to backordering on this extremely popular new model.

As for the heat, most of the issues experienced in the 98XX series was due to the P4 which generated an insane amount of heat. Just the heatsink on it accounted for half the notebook. The news core duo's run extremely cool and with half the power. This combined with motherboard revisions and general case/fan placement for the new model keep it very cool. Not to mention the sheer number of fans on this model.

Mid May? OUCH! I thought it was early May? I am moving in June and want to take it with me on the road trip...

If you haven't ordered already, I would say you have no chance of receiving it before then. Chances are that only the people who pre-ordered when they first became available will see shipments through out May. Again, this is an EXTREMELY popular model, and with out a doubt will be back-ordered at some point. So get in line as early as you can if you are interested.

Does anyone know if any of these have been shipped out yet? Also, does anyone know if there's any truth to MS Vista not supporting the dual graphic cards?
Just spoke with Sager, they still have not yet been received, but are "hoping" to get them out by the end of the week. They still will not promise any exact dates.

As for the SLI support, so far MS/nVidia does not support dual GPU SLI configurations in vista. Obviously, this will soon change as the vendors(or aftermarket support) start to create the necessary drivers for these products, but we cannot yet say when as no dates have been provided. Without a doubt they are in development on this and its just a matter of time until they fill this large market gap for vista support.

I hope MS & nVidia figure out the driver issue real soon. Do we know if the video card supports directX 10? If not I'm sure they will find a fix for that too...hopefully before the launch of these machines. With all that said I still can't wait for mine to arrive. I just hope everything works even though it may not be running at blistering speeds that it is capable of.

Okay we are now past mid-March and still no sign of these being shipped. Has anyone heard anything???
Sager has just received these units and began initial testing last week. They expect to have the first units shipping some time this week, as soon as they are ready.
