Got Windows XP drivers for VGN-FE880E ? - Page 2

I installed every driver, and my hardware device manage::network adapter:: shows all three adapters are right: 1394 network adapter, intel (R) pro/100 ve network connection, intel (R) pro/wireless 3945abg network connection. I can also see my wireless icon right-down-corner of the monitor. But always showing no wireless no matter how many times I refresh the wireless list, which is not true at all. I do not know what is the problem? How possibly could be?

May I ask what is the difference between FE4_DRIVERS.ZIP and FE3_DRIVERS.ZIP. Both were mentioned here. Should I use FE4 if it's a newer one?
ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/Vaio/ORIGINAL/ has both.

Thanks for the help,
Dont use FE4_Drivers.zip that's for vista. use FE3 and FE2 this will help you.

http://forum.notebookreview.com/show....php?p=2179839

Get the drivers here ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/pub/Vaio/ORIGINAL/

My machine is Up and runing But i cant uninstall The drivers for the cam, i installed the wrong drivers for it and i need to installed teh correct one. That site also has FE2_driver.zip
in the camera folder, you find WindowsXP-KB909667-x86-ENU.exe which is not present in FE3_drivers.
From the FE4_Drivers.zip Just use chipset Driver, the wireless, Network, and the camera, but when you install the camera make sure to install that Batch file in the camera folder.
From the FE3_Utilities make sure to install
Utils Installer 1 SonyUtils DLL
Utils Installer 2 Sony Shared Library
Utils Installer VAIO Power Management
Utils Installer Battery Checker
Utils Installer VAIO Control Center
Also for the Audio you must install the patch in the UAA High Definition Audio Class driver before you install audio drivers

FE2_driver.zip
in the camera folder, you find WindowsXP-KB909667-x86-ENU.exe

Good Luck Mine is Up and running.

Has anybody been able to get the Matshita UJ-850S to write CDs/DVDs in XP? I have everything else working except the CD/DVD drive. It reads both CDs and DVDs fine, but I can't write to either format.

Hi guys!
Got really inspired by your comments on this thread, installed XP and found out that all the drivers i downloaded are corrupted. Could someone PLEASE post them on any upload/download utility, because www.vaio-link.com... let's them out with an amazing 1.1 kb/s. Would be very greatfull to you for that! If you do so, could you please email me the link to theseriojca@gmail.com?
Thanx a lot in advance, you guys are the best!
P.S. Even though just for a little while with XP on my Vaio, i fell in love with it again!

Just like the above post, my Vaio is up and running, except for a couple of things:
1. Can't take pictures w/ the camera?
2. No sound level display when using the hotkeys.
3. DxDiag shows 128 mb of vram instead of the earlier 224..
4. The DVD-RW drive became a DVD-RAM one.
If anyone has already overpassed this, please post a reply.
Thanx

To properly install DVD-RW drive go to Device Manager Right click MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ 850S Choose Update Driver Choose No, Not this Time Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) Don't Search, I will choose the driver to install. Uncheck choose compatible hardware Select Sonic Solutions DVD/CD-ROM Driver Filter Then install... The name of your device will not change (MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ 850S) but now you can erase and record cds and dvds

I have same problem when I uso many connections in the server. Try download only in the browser.

I tried the Sonic Solutions driver method. The CD/DVD icon doesn't even show up when I open "My Computer", now. I also had to browse for PxHelp20.sys, which is located in Windows/sys32/drivers. I was able to install the driver after I browsed for PXHelp20.sys, but it did me no good, since the CD/DVD drive is nowhere to be found via Windows Explorer.

For nVidia based sony laptops, install the driver from
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/...howtopic=19570
nVIDIA ForceWare X 177.66 for Windows XP/2K 32bit

This works on all nvidia-based vaio's such as VGN-FE880E or FZ470E where the fn keys under XP don't control the brightness by default and you're stuck with the screen blasting you at 100% all the time.

The rest of the drviers can be had from (and I recommend you do this first) ***
Good luck!

Hello,

With my Model Number VGN-FE880E I can boot from the CD and hit any key to start the install. When it finishes loading the drivers and starts windows. I cannot do anything like, press enter to continue or C or D to modify the partition. I can use any key to boot from CD. That's not a problem.

I assume it's a driver issue as I can boot and install any Linux distro with out fail. This is the first and only laptop that I've ever had a problem with. Does Sony have proprietary drivers for the keyboard and the base windows drivers will not work?

I should mention that I can and have installed Windows 7 no problems, but I would LOVE to install a clean version of XP that I own.

any advice would be appreciated. I know this thread is old.

Thanks.

You probably missed the S-ATA driver for your hard drive. Try disable AHCI support from BIOS setup if you have it, if not, you need to install this driver before installing XP, or slipstreaming this driver onto an installation disk.

cheers ...

Thank you for your reply. Can you explain how to install the driver before installing XP? If I have to Slipstream XP. I would have to google for awhile no problem there, but where can I get the AHCI driver? I should mention after looking around on the net, I can see the drive during the install. But on the same screen, I cannot select that drive or Modify with the keyboard. I cannot even hit F3 to Escape. I have to Manually Turn off the system to get out. Could it be something else besides AHCI? Thank you very much.

1. How to slipstream (2 of many)
http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase...slipstream.asp
http://www.maximumpc.com/article/How...P-installation

2. SATA Driver:
http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-020683.htm

Try these first and see the issue with your "locking up" goes away.

cheers ...
