Just a question for ya. How difficult was the first exam you took for mcse. The exam the grants you a mcp. I'm supposed to take it in a few days and since it is the first one I am nervous. Just asking your opinion.

MCP is granted for any test you take... doesn't matter which one. So I am not sure which test you are talking about.

I would assume it is the OS test and with that, it would depend on your experience with the OS itself.

I did not find it difficult at all, and when I took it, I had pretty limited experience. I will say that a few other guys that took it at the same time as I did had much more experience than I did and still failed the Server Test.

I suggest you pick up the MikeMeyers book for the particular exam you are taking and skim it... concentrating on the areas that you feel the least comfy with.

IN the Entire MCSE track, the hardest test is the DESIGN test. mostly due to the FORMATTING of the test itself. CASE STUDY is the format and it can be intimidating.

If you have prepared, and you have some experience with the OS and a network, then you should be fine.

You can purchase online the Transcender Practice Tests to halp you gage where you are in preparedness. I personally didn't care for those... but I know alot of people who swear by them for tools to help you figure out where to concentrate your studying come crunch time.

Good Luck.

If you ever go for the Cisco CCNA exam. DO NOT waste your money on a boot-camp. Those are intended for people that already know the material and just need a primer to take the exam. They don't teach you anything. Take a full semester class at your college instead.

The CCNA is quite a difficult test and Cisco's test writers use bizarre language to intentionally trip you up. They also ask a LOT of questions that really have no real world application.

First time I took it I passed by just ONE question. The second time (for renewal) I managed to eke out past 3. And that was with some MAJOR studying.

I just passed the 70-270 exam for XP Pro this morning!!! I did better than I thought I would. It was my first exam so I was nervous. Now only 10 people out of the thirty that are taking the class I'm in have passed the 270 exam on their first try. Next up is the 290 exam on server 2003

Congrats!!!!!!

Welcome to the world of MCP's....

As far as the test "FEELING" goes... I thought the Server was just like the Workstation test.

Wait till you hit the DESIGN test.... HOLY CRAP! I believe that one is a CaseStudy format and can be a bit of a headache for some.
