Last year in September i splashed out on an HP dv6095ea laptop.
I play a lot of games with it, surf the net, download movies, work as well of course and burn loads of dvd with it.
Last week when I tried turning it on the screen did not start up and it made beeping noises, however eveything else did work, the fan, windows start up noises etc, all worked. The beep codes were as follows, 1 long beep followed by 2 short beeps. From some research on the HP website I found out that these beep codes indicate a video / graphics card error. I phoned up HP and had my laptop picked up from them, as it is yet in warrenty. I was wondering, what could have caused the nvidia graphics card to stop working, it must have fried with frequent use or maybe it was just a faulty card. Can someone tell me how to prevent this from happening in the future as it was a great dissapointment after paying so much for the laptop. Thank you!

nothing, just lights as before, so I rebooted as before, this time I had the screen with allot of unintelligable lines and so forth although I heard the familar windows tune logging on. One more time I rebooted and this time it came up ok and has been running fine since then .
..Keeping my fingers crossed. I think I'm going to invest in a warrenty for at least for a couple of years!!!
