mobility x1600 upgrade

Hello,

I apologize for posting in this section of the forum but sager laptop owners are the usually the most knowledgeable pc users out here.

I recently purchased the N6420 until the new 45mn intel chips in '08 are available and till vista and the dx10 graphics cards to mature considerably a bit more. However for now, I'd really like to upgrade my ati mobility x1600 to something more high performing. Since it's PCIe, is it possible to do so? I've heard something along the lines that it depends on other variables whether the graphics cards is deemed upgradeable, so I'm a little confused now. Any info and help is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Sorry, PCIe does not instantly mean upgradeable. PCIe is just the type of bus that connects the card to the board. All newer laptops with dedicated graphics have a PCIe bus.

But Fujitsu isnt known for offering upgradeable graphics at all. Sorry, but its probably not possible.

very few companies actually offer upgradable video cards.. a lot may say that it is upgradable but they usually mean u can select diff cards before you initially purchase the laptop and if there are better video cards available at that time then u can choose between those later, but that doesnt necessarily mean that a year down the road they may offer a new video card..

due to size restraints, power restriction, and design implementation, its just very improbable.
