Hey everyone, i was wondering what is a better laptop the Tecra M2v with a 1.5 centrino or the Tecra S1 with a 1.4 centrino. I was just wondering? Thanks

It would be helpful if you were to maybe mention what you want to use it for.

Yea, no laptop models are better than another. It all depends on what you plan to do with it.

And please post the specs.

Im sorry, i am going to use it for browsing, school work some games and movies. The specs of the M2v are as follows
1.5 centrino
14" screen
40 gig harddrive
CDRW
WIFI
256 ram
the Tecra S1
15" screen
1.4 centrino
40 gig harddrive
CDRW
WIFI
256 ram
The tecra also has this video card "32MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9000" while the m2v is built in. I know both are great laptops just confused on what to take.

hopefully you are playing old games because those cant handle the new ones.... as for which to get i would be tempted by the M2 more than the S1 myself.

Fidget why is that? Is the m2 a better laptop? The S1 has a better video card i would think since it is an ati rather than built in.

i have used both. generally speaking if you are in class the 14inch is lighter and easier to use as well as slightly newer.

Just to clarifly, he's talking about the M2v (not the M2). The M2v is a newer and lighter machine than the S1, but the S1 has a better gpu for gaming. Even so, the gpu in the S1 is quite old now and by modern standards, neither GPU will be any good for gaming. If you're interested in playing older games, then I'm sure the S1 will get you somewhat better results than the integrated one in the M2v. But I would NOT get either and look for something else if gaming is a factor.

The M2v uses a slightly newer generation Pentium M architecture the S1, is smaller, lighter and gets better battery life than the S1.

If you want something portable the M2v is awesome. I was amazed when I got mine at how lightwieight yet solid it is. The original battery still lasts me over 4 hours. I've never used an S1 so I can't say much about it.

Thanks for the responses everyone. Speed wise they are pretty much the same right, i mean i hardly doubt you can tell .1 ghz. I just read that the earlier i think models of the s1 had some problems so i was worried.
