M9750 already has some competition

Well I have read an increasing number of stories of other laptop manufacturers coming out with Santa Rosa laptops in April or May, so I am SURE (hint hint) that Alienware must be making the m9750 a Santa Rosa laptop. I mean how can they tout the m9750 as the fastest if they arent taking advantage of the higher FSB granted to the Core 2 Duo by Santa Rosa?? I mean are they going to let Samsung (http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/17/s...ming-notebook/) beat them???

I don't see SLI in that description...

I can assure you the m9750 will support DX10 cards, just don't know if it will at intro.

This laptop doesn't compete with the m9750 on paper, or in the real world.

No kidding. None of them is larger than a 15.4" screen, either. Pssh, not even close. Why did you even post that?

The new sager 9260 ( http://www.sagernotebook.com/pages/go_np9260.html ) is the competition for the m9750. It sports a desktop processor however, which makes me wary.

The desktop processor is just an option. You will probably be able to get the C2D as an alternate option.

I posted this to try and put some pressure on the folks on Alienware to make the m9750 a Santa Rosa notebook at launch. I hope they will even though they haven't said anything. It would be a shame for it to not be. Flame me if you want people it makes no difference because I am part Magmar (a Pokemon)

The Sager lappy that was posted here doesnt have a blu ray drive or hd dvd drive so ill still stick with the m9750 also the base price is higher too

Damm...
Core2 Xtreme, 3 HDs, and SLI. I must say that Sager just impressed me more than the m9750...

Too bad its looks can't compare.

One thing about the C2X is that intel will have C2X chips for lappys and there is sli in the m9750. Also 3 hdds are kinda useless since people barely even have the money to have 2.

I still don't see where it says 3 HD's, and Hypersonic already has a notebook with Quad Core and C2 Xtreme (X6800). I'm guessing AW is gonna release a notebook like the Area 51 7700, just like a revision. I mean same like base, single card, Intel CPU, ect. with C2 Xtreme, E6400, E6600, and Q6600 (Quad Core). And 3 HD's has already been done, 2 HD's in Raid 0/1, + External HD

RAID 5 sounds pretty useful.

But come to think of it, this thing is gonna get 30 min battery life max.
Isn't Raid 5 only used for like buisness' and stuff? And yeah battery life=teh suckage. But when you buy a DTR you better not be expecting anything over 1 hr or 1:30 hr
post #15 of 30
My DTR w/ moderately weak specs gets 1 hr 10 minutes. When it reaches about 50%, you can't play a relatively simple game like Command and Conquer Generals without lagging a lot. When it reaches about 25% battery, the lag is significant even when not gaming and gaming is impossible. When it hits 10%, it jumps to 5% in less than a minute for some reason. I've tested this about 5 times.

RAID5 is great for very large database storage systems. It can use several drives at a time, and can repair itself I understand.
Yeah check this... it's from Sager, but it make you wonder if the is a taste of what the M9750 is going to be like
