8890 is retarded

can't believe that i can't use my computer to play games. EVEN with the new 7.97 drivers Call of Duty, one of the TWO GAMES that i own won't play right, without crashing. GOD IT IS SO ****ING ANNOYING. Aren't these drivers supposed to be ATI 4.1 Equivs???????? GOD, what is the deal with my 8890?

i uninstalled 7.97 after i lost over 2000 points on 3dmark2001se.

why is SAGER so retarded and can't release drivers that work properly. I know this game runs fine on the original 7.93 drivers. Why can't I keep my drivers updated like EVERYONE else in the world?

If i use the modded cats (ie Omegas) and something goes wrong on my computer, am i screwed?

Na, you're fine. Use the Omegas and don't overclock at all..That's the only way that you could get yourself in trouble using the Omegas..Most people on here use them.

I have to still use the orignal drivers also. Anything newer from Sager or any drivers like Omega's crash the games I play like mad.

the Omega drivers are worse for just about everything i do. crashes, screen flickering, artifacts.

I play Call of Duty on my 8890 with the newest Omegas. No problem.

Just for reference. You might look elsewhere for the problem than drivers.

I too play COD all the time with only 1 problem. It seems to lock up if I use headphones. I've tested this and within 20minutes of playing using headphones it locks. Now if I play w/o them I can play for hours no problem.

now then, do you mean any 1/8" plug plugged into the 8890 or just a headphone plug?

ps, i think i will dl the omega drivers today and reinstall everything. now if only my wireless card will work....... btw it works in coffee shops but no longer in my design building. Why, i do not know, but it must have something to do with when they installed the new Wireless "G". Hasn't worked since then. ANyone seen anything liike this? WIll report back upon completion of reformat to see if my card works this time. peace

Thats ridiculous

There is no reason that should cause your laptop to lock up. At least...I cannot think of a reason.

What headphones are you using?
Are you changing any settings for audio inside the game?

Can you do a test for repeatability on this issue and lemme know what happens??

I downloaded the Far Cry demo and started getting artifacts after about half an hour. A friend suggested getting the new Cat 4.3 drivers... any opinions?

I love the new omegas. they play sooooo smoothly in Call of Duty. Don't have Far cry, yet, but i remember playing the demo on 7.95 drivers with no problem whatsoever!
