Best 15 inch gaming laptop?

I was almost 100% percent sure I was going to buy the Dell Inspiron 1705 because it had the best performance to price ratio. I configured it such a way that it was almost identical to the m1710 except for the slightly lower graphics card. But then I went to Best Buy and saw how massive and heavy it was. So I have decided to go to a 15.4 in screen laptop. But these laptops are not as fast.

Here are the specs for the E1705
Core 2 Duo 7400
2 GB Ram
Vista Home Premium
120 Gb HDD
Nvidia Geforce 7900 GS

Since Im going to college next year I want a portable laptop but I still want a laptop which is powerful enough to game on on watch movies on. My main priority is multitasking. Which laptop would come really close to the stats I've listed above?

some laptops i've looked at:
Hp dv6000t
Inspiron E1505

Any other choices?

Asus A8js,asus A8jm = 14" with 7700go and X1700
Asus G1,alienware M5550,acer ferrari,acer 8204 =15.4" with 7700go,7600go,X1600's for the acers.
There are many apart from these, the dell only has X1400 and the HP has 7400go which are both bottom end and will not run a few newer games at pleasing resolution or quality.
My advise is to go with either of the Asus A8's as they are the most portable size and just as powerful as any 15.4",but still not near the dell 17" with 7900gs as far as games go.

I would probably recommend an asus if your looking for something portable with a decent graphics card.
If your looking to save a bit of money, the Asus F3JP is always good value (x1600). If your looking to game, but still stay portable, I'd recommend the Asus G1 (7700go). Its got good battery life, a great mobile graphics card and is otherwise suited to gaming and portability.

Your going to want to ditch Vista too, so make sure you have a copy of XP if your going to want to game. Last i knew Vista drivers werent exactly up to par with XP yet.

I would say go with the cheapest with the 7700go.

Another option, if your somewhat handy and not afraid to take the laptop apart, you can buy a Dell Latitude D810 and put a Geforce 6800 Go in it for around 600-650. Just another option if your maybe looking for something a little less expensive, would be used though.

yeah! windows vista is not ready for gaming yet. some old games are still incompatible. NFS carbon & halo 2 etc is not compatible with vista.

I'm in college right now, and the most popular laptop I have seen here so far is easily the Dell 1505. These things are EVERYWHERE, at least here at Baylor where I am. I personally have a Dell XPS M1210...I like it so far. Its a much smaller screen than the 1505, but it is not too small by any means, at least for me. Anyways, a buddy of mine has the 1505, and its a really nice laptop. Easily portable, and powerful enough to game on. (We both play WoW, and we both run it excellently).
