256MB Hypermemory Fix for Vista Upgrade

Are you stuck @ 128MB of Hypermemory after a clean install of Vista, here's a workaround to fix this? I downgraded to XP MCE 2005 (it came with my Gateway MX6447 Notebook) then I set my Hypermemory in the ATI/CCC to 256MB of Hypermemory form 128MB, then I upgraded to Vista (doing a inplace upgrade form XP MCE 2005) and after the Vista Upgrade, I'm Stuck at 256MB of Hypermemory, (I rather be stuck at 256MB than 128MB of Hypermemory) so, this WORKS, and in Vista, I now have much improved Graphics functionally, you cannot change this back to 128MB of Hypermemory unless you downgrade back to XP MEC 2005, this is not a real fix to the probelm, but it's a wrokaround (untill ATI/AMD get's better hypermemory driver support in Vista) this will also improve your Vista Base Score as well, but you must have at least 2GB's of DDR 2 Memory installed, I hope this helps others out that have less-than-perfect ATI/Graphics after a Vista Clean install, remember, this only works, after doing a inplace upgrade to Vista from XP MCE 2005 I think this should be a sticky, it may help others with the same problem

WOW!!! your stuck at 1GB of Hypermemory, (are you sure) I wouldn't complain about that, unless you have less than 2GB's of System Ram that might be a problem if you do, cuz you wouldn't have enough memory to even run your PC, so, how much Ram is installed in your system? and did you do an inplace upgrade to Vista from XP? also what Video/chipset do you have in your system? Intel, Nvidia, ATI? Please give more details about your system? My Notebook came pre-installed w/ XP MCE 2005, so, I was able to adjust the Hypermemory in the ATI/CCC to 256MB while running XP MCE before I upgraded to Vista, that's how I corrected this problem? give us some more info about your PC, it might help?

so no solution yet for those who bought a laptop with vista already? Mine's showing around 800mb of shared video with the x1300 card.

Are you using the latest ATI Drivers for the x1300? if not they have new ones http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/v...2-vista32.html Uinstall your old x1300 ATI drivers, you can do this with the ATI uninstall Tools, then Re-Boot, then install the current ATI x1300 Drivers, then Re-boot again

I'll try that. It's still stuck at ~800MB for video memory. I have the latest video drivers, but I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling them again when I get home.

I did it, but same thing. Oh well. Not a huge issue.

The New ATI Video Drivers made for Vista DO NOT include Hypermemory as this WILL NOT WORK in Vista: That's what I got back form ATI on a trouble ticket, so it looks like ATI will no longer support Hypermemory in Vista this will work in XP ONLY

I have a 128 v ram ATI card with and its running 384 megs of Hypermemory , hypermemory does work on Vista, I'm running Vista Home Premium. I only have 1 gig of ram and would really like to limit Hypermemory to 128 meg or turn it off completly. Really, really would.

But that's the whole problem with Hypermemory in Vista, you CANNOT adjust it, tweak it, or turn it off/on, so snice you can't do anything with it, it's really NOT doable for the end user in Vista, now do you see my point? I would suggest that you buy another 1GB of Ram to speed up the rest of your System and just forget about the Hypermemory, you can't do anything about the way Vista uses it? if you want to be able to adjust the Hypermemory again, you could always go-back-to XP, it works in XP

Ah, that sucks. My laptop came with Vista and I've grown accustomed to it besides the hypermemory usage.
