I switched the Celeron M with a Core Duo T2250 I picked up on ebay, booted up, but there was no display. I put the Celeron back in, but it wouldn't stop blue screening me at the vista logo until I installed vista again. So now I'm back where I started with a T2250 that may or may not work depending on what I'm doing wrong. Anyone out there know anything that might help?
did you try different bios versions , specially f.14, also do you know for sure the 2250 you have is working.

I was using f.14, then I tried f.24. Neither worked. The only assurance I have on the condition of the cpu is that the ebay seller said they pulled it out of a working notebook.

hmm that is weird, earlier today i did the hp support chat and the support rep told me for hte part number that my c504us , dual core t2250 is supported and she even gave me the hp part number for it. what is the model number for your c500 (551, 504 etc) although I am pretty sure all of them share the same bios

Mines is the c502us
just making sure your t2250 has code SL9DV on it, also can you see the chipset on the system board, its 945gml right and not 940gml
post #26 of 292
The T2250 has SL9DV on it. I can't find anything that says 945gml or 940gml. The sticker on the machine says Intel GMA 950 and I remember reading that that's the GPU for the 945 chipset. I sent HP an e-mail inquiry to double-check.
yeh i am starting to think the chipset is 943gml and not 945gml, which only supports celeron and intel pentium dual core (technically its the same as core duo with half the cache),
post #28 of 292
anything progress charuto
Yeh when I sent them the first e-mail, they said 950gma. When I replied and told them the possible chipsets, they said 940gml. So I figure I'm going to sell this thing now. Thanks for your help.

Anyone want a T2250? Make me an offer.
do you think this will support the 533mhz pentium m's, i just want a way to get speedstep to increase battery life
post #31 of 292
From what I understand, Pentium M comes in Socket 478 and Socket 479 while Celeron M comes in Socket 479 and Socket M. In my C502US it's Socket M, so it shouldn't fit unless some kind of adapter exists.
I am thinking that the chipset is limited to celeron m and intel dual core (not core duo), cpu's, you can configure a c500t with pentium dual core t2060/t2080 on the hp website, am getting tempted to buy the t2080 and try it

The page says Core Duo, but if you look at the model number of the CPU, T2060 is actually a Pentium Dual Core (which you can get by customizing a C500 at Compaq's U.S. website too).

The notes for the F.14A BIOS does say "Adds support for Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile Processor T5500", so it'd be interesting if they skipped support for the Core Duo in favor of the Core 2 Duo.

If anybody tries this out with a Core 2 Duo of Pentium Dual Core, please let me know how it works out. It doesn't look like I'm going to be able to sell this notebook for a decent price, so I may end up keeping it. On a sidenote, CPU-Z says this about my chipset:

Can anyone tell me which one it actually is? Thanks.

has anyone tried this lately, i see c500 with pentium dual core (c540, c571), any tried to upgrade the cpu from the celeron m to pentium dual core cpu (t2080 or t2060)?

I'm pretty sure that it's you who went on ebay and bought the t2060 I was watching (and subsequently forgot about as the auction was ending) . Let us know how that works out for you.

hey sorry guys
yeh, it didnt work, i am not sure if its something i did or its just not supported, with the t2060 it wouldnt post, well it would start but the display was blank, unfortunately i think the c500 has a intel 940gml chipset which is tied to celerons
