M9700 and stalker - Page 3

HH, you make me want to drop vista and go back to XP so i can order a second card for SLi. Also, way to keep showing the m9700's power.

Thanks karel, when I have some time I'll check the fps.

I played the game a couple hours last night, and it was kinda fun... It's still a bit buggy, but it didn't crash on me. My biggest problem was every once in a while the radar would quit working, so I had to bring up the PDA map to see where I was supposed to go...

I bought my m9700 before the free upgrade to Vista. I don't think I'm going to upgrade myself, everything works so well under XP I don't see any reason to move to Vista on this platform...

Yeah the best is to wait like a yr or 6 months til everything is all worked out in Vista.

The only thing "better" in vista that i have seen is the little visual goodies and the new start menu. Well, and the file system rework. But in all honesty, its just visual changes and ease of acess stuff. Nothing groundbreaking. I kinda wish the Alienware rep didnt push it so hard, as i orginally wanted to go with media center.

Yeah Vista looks sexy! And thats really the only thing thats interesting me in Vista. But I have AlienGuise on one PC, and the Microsoft Zune theme on the other. I'm set in the visual department.

My copy of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. just shipped from Amazon, so I'll give it a try in a couple of days.

Can anybody comment if SLI works okay with this game?

Seems to be working fine for me... I need to turn on the indicator thingy and make sure...
Thanks, HH ... I didn't notice there was a 2nd page to this thread when I posted my question. If it works on your system it should be fine, albeit I have the lower res display.
Should work even better then... I'm running it on high settings, object dynamic lighting, 1920 x 1200...

Just a warning, the auto-save is very hinky, more than half the time I'm not able to start a saved game by auto save, or quick save.

I've not had any issues though by hitting esc, then saving though it's a pain in the butt...

I shall be picking up a copy of Corn Stalker this weekend and probably end up being addicted.

Good games are hard to come by but once you've got one you just can't let go. A little partial to Bionic Commando myself.

Oh yeah, and don't get too hooked into Stalker, because Kane is just around the corner! C & C 3 Tiberium Wars supposedly "shipped" today! I'll pick it up later this week...

ok here is a big surprise for me

i tried S.T.A.L.K.E.R. on my 7700

& WOW it worked i don't know how

I'm running it on high settings, world dynamic lighting, 1680 x 1050
but it's a little glittchy & make my processor/VGA fans huff & puff

so i turned down the resolution to 1024X768 with high setting & world dynamic lighting
& it runs smooooooooothly
that was really a big fat happy surprie for me that my 7700 still handle new games

You have a 7900 GTX, the 2nd best video card out right now, why wouldn't it be able to handle new games?

If you liked Oblivion, you'll probably like stalker.
