Asus A8Js or G1?

Which laptop is better for it's price?
A8Js with 2gb RAM+7200RPM HD for 1997 CAD
or the G1 stock for 2214 CAD?
they both come with Vista

I don't really mind the extra bulk of the G1 as it's usually on my desktop...but is the extra money worth the bigger screen+higher res+awesome look+backpack+mouse?

or does the cheaper a8js with a 7200rpm hd a better buy for the price?
offers a very nice 1440 resolution and is smaller/lighter...
this is a tough choice, can anyone make any suggestions as hard as it might be?

Dang, you're already upgrading from the Z70va? That laptop is nice. I would save your money and wait if I were you. In my opinion, both of the laptops you are thinking of buying are uglier than the Z70va

Stylistically, the V1J looks good, in my opinion.

as to the question at hand though, I'd say go for the G1.

But he wasn't going for the V1J. I also think the V1J looks good, in fact better than the Z70va

haha i'll look into that model...
but the g1 doesn't seem to be worth the extra 250-300 bucks...
especially considering the a8js is SMALLER!!
i'm gonna be plugging it into a 22" monitor so screen size isn't exactly a positive
but the g1 is soooooooooooooo sweet looking!!!
saw it in real life...and i was like damnnnn, makes my w3j look like a normal laptop :O

One benefit of the G1 is the decent battery life.

The A8js is lighter (5.3lbs vs. G1 6.8lbs), has better placed USB ports (5 right, left and rear), same graphics performance (7700go), same screen resolution, Bluetooth and is $300 cheaper. Unless you buy laptops on aesthetics alone, get the A8js.

The G1 has bluetooth (why woudn't it?), and apparently the battery on the A8js is lacking (2.5 hours or something). The resolution is higher on the G1 (1680x1050) although I believe there are different models available.
However its hardly on aesthetics alone. I tried configuring an A8js and the Asus G1 to the same specs, and they worked out to be virtually the same price.

The G1 has a much better quality build. it is based on the V6 chasis. The A series is part of the 'budget line', hence build quality isn't as good.

sometimes purely looking at specs doesn't work. seriously, go take a look at an A8 also (since u've already seen the G1), and i'm sure u'll understand why the premium.

no it isn't. The G1 doesn't have a predecessor. If it were based on the V6 chassis (Like the Lambo VX1, for instance) it wouldn't be widescreen, wouldn't have the Direct Messenger screen, and wouldn't have a graphics card anywhere near as powerful as the 7700. It may be built well, but it's not based on any other model.
