Insprion 1501 connectivity advice needed.

Hi folks and a huge SORRY to the mods for posting in the wrong window. Just joined and uhmmm having a senior moment of confusion. That's my darned excuse and sticking with it.

Oh! OK then!.....Gwan......move me.......I deserve it.......

But before you do...can anyone explain what I need to actually hook up to an LCD TV from the 1501? It's just so that my wife can watch DVD's on it when I take over the lounge LCD TV with the 360, if of course it's even possible to do so.

Anyway....from across the Pond, thanks for your time and sorry again...damn newbies huh?

Does your LCD have a VGA Ports, if so try hooking it up to your notebook, then In your Display Properties, or display settings there should be options for doing that. You will find a drop down menu. Toggle with that a bit. Youll get it. =]]. If im not wrong it should be the second one.

Well I thought I posted a quick reply but it seems it's off into the ether somewhere. Ah well here goes again then.

Thanks for the swift reply and, after attacking the back of the TV with assorted and various tools, nope, no VGA connection. The TV is Toshiba Regza but, that's about as much use as the fact that rocking horse droppings are really rare these days....well to be honest...they always have been. I've never found any for sure.

Anyhoo...moving swiftly on...is there a cobbled connector lead of any sort out there that may do the trick? If not I think I will just have to File 13 the whole idea. In my vintage years, I'm getting left behind by the speed of technological advancement and even a simple lead has so many sub menus attached these days it's incredible.

Well we gave it a shot I guess.

Im guessing your inspiron is just like mine, it only has a VGA out no S-video. If so i dont think you will be able to connect it to your LCD if it doesnt have a VGA connector, unless someone can prove me wrong hopefully.

Check out this link, before I got my LCD TV with a VGA connection on it, I used this gadget, it outputs to Composite/S-Video/Component, on my 12 year old Sony TV. Hope it helps.
