Goodbye to my M170

Thread Starter
Well ive had my XPS M170 for about a year now, At first i bought it as a powerfull alternative to a desktop to save space, but as the year has gone on ive added bits like a speaker system, Razer mouse, external DVD RW, 2 WD my book external HDD's. Plus do some upgrading of my laptop, 2gb memory, 7800 GTX, 100gb HDD to keep up with the times. but i sat the other day and thought my space saving laptop takes up a whole desk

So went online to Dell and bought an XPS 710 desktop with all the tricks.

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6700 Processor (2.66GHz, 1066MHz, 4MB)
Dell™ 24" UltraSharp™ Wide Aspect Digital/Analogue Flat Panel (2407FPW)
4096MB Dual Channel DDR2 677MHz [4x1024] Memory
500GB Serial ATA RAID 0 Stripe [2x250GB 7200rpm drives with DataBurst™ cache
16x DVD+/-RW & 48x CDRW/DVD Combo Drive
SINGLE 768MB nVidia® GeForce® 8800 GTX graphics card

Should be here in around 10 days, XPS will be going on ebay (if anyone interested PM me)

Ive loved my lappy, but if im going to fill my desk up it may aswell be a desktop

Congratulations man. I recently built a custom PC, and it replaced my Gen 2 as the main computer on my desk. I moved the Gen 2 to my bed, where I can enjoy watching TV and movies on its beautiful 17" UXGA screen.

I would try listing that m170 on the for sale / for trade section first, but its up to you; I would be lost if I didn't have both a laptop and a desktop!

I agree, my laptop has a mouse, chill mat, external hd, u720, and other things, but it still all fits in my bag, i also carry a spare battery so it really is my mobile desktop. Although there is no replacement for an actual desktop, this thing comes pretty close to being the full blown thing. I would never trade it off for a desktop though, the convience alone of mobile power is worth taking up a whole desk if i can easily take it to a LAN.
