Aspire 3050 fan

Thread Starter
I bought an Acer Aspire 3050, and am very happy with it, except one thing. The fan is loud. Not that that fan is loud, but it used to be quiet, but it sounds...rough. I thought it was a simple wire hanging down and rubbing into it, no big deal. I open it up (voiding my warrenty, but I just wnated to fixit!) only to find that there is no wire hanging down into the fan. Now, it's a faulty fan (I'm assuming) AM i looking over anything to possibly fix it. I want to buy a replacement fan, but I was told I'ld have to replace the entire motherboard, which is $180 and I"m not going to do that. The fan works, its just loud, and in a classroom setting that I'm in is unacceptable. Any fixes?

First of all, that's completely untrue. You warranty is still intact (if you had one to begin with) as doing so does NOT void your warranty. Second of all, you don't have to replace the entire motherboard. Try looking online, either ebay or random sites, or contacting Acer about it. If it's under warranty, who cares what they replace (aka the whole motherboard). Just be like I got a noisy fan and it's overheating. They'r gonna look at it and decide what to do.
