A8J blanks out

my screen goes black when i unplug the power cord. i dont think the screen or the battery are the problems because i can see all the loadin before i get into windows. there is nothin i can do when the screen goes black so i am forced to press and hold the power button and shutdown my laptop. this problem is really irritatin because this means the power cord has to be plugged in all the time.

There are a couple of options at Asus' support site

One is try to reseat the RAM and the other is to use an older version of the ATI drivers.

If you do a web seardch for "Asus black screen", you'll see several other possible fixes, too, before sending it in for a new screen. It appears it's not too unusual.

Another option may be that it is trying to output through the s-video or whatever. Try holding function and pressing a button that says LCD to cycle through options. On my A8JP it's on F7 and F8. It could just be a weird setting in the power setting it goes to when not plugged in.
