question for wireless network gurus...

I am planning to upgrade my wireless network at home, and use WPA2 throughout from now on for security reasons. The issue is that I have an old Inspiron 8200 which I would still like to be able to access the network. The network card in that laptop does not support WPA2 (I checked, and the last driver they offer can do WPA-PSK, but nothing newer than that). Now, I know that I could keep running my old router, and have two wireless networks, but I'd rather have a simpler setup. There's enough different wireless devices in my household as is...

So, to make a long story short, how compatible are wireless mini-PCI cards? If I buy a new card (say, an Atheros one), can I expect that I will be able to install this in my old laptop, antenna connectors and all?

Thanks for any advice.

Your 8200 should have no problems with recent miniPCI cards. Just be sure you get the right size card. If you post what type your original card is, we can tell you the card size that your slot will take.
