Dell E1705 Battery Doesn't Charge & And Bad FPS

Hello there,

Ive had my E1705 for about 9 months now. Just within the last month Ive been noticing periods of bad fps. So i thought I had some spyware so i reformatted the rig. Installed drivers, etc, and the a game. But the FPS were still stuck at 30 FPS. So then i thought maybe it was a hardware, so I went to dell's website and downloaded the lastest bios and installed them. Still bad performance. So i left the system off for a bit, came back and it was running just fine. High fps in Live For Speed, and i was happy. Till the other day were i got back on and my fps were stuck at 30. Starting looking for processes, seeing if there was anything cpu intensive running. Couldn't find anything, then i checked powermizer settings to make sure they were set at max performance. Then i noticed...the battery was only at 92% and not charging. So i started live for speed again, and unplugged the power brick and ran off the battery. The FPS jumped from 30 to 100, the second I plugged it back in. It dropped back down to 30. Don't really understand the concept of this and why it does it. But Ive tryed everything i know. Also the power brick is pretty hot.

System Spec's:

Dell E1705
Intel Core Solo 1.86ghz
512MB DDR2
60 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
Nvidia GeForce Go 7900GS.

Also last week, my pc crashed and said " Hardware Malfunction - Memory Parity"

Any help will be appreciated, Thanks.

Sounds like your AC adapter is going out.

Looks like its time to get that 130w power brick. But what about that Hardware Malfunction? Could it be bad ram? If so ive been meaning to pick up 1gig aswell.

Well the probelm has been found with the power brick. Its the part that goes into the back of the laptop itself. The little wire inside of it wasn't making contact either well enough or at all. Something along those lines, either way with some fiddling around with it. I got the battery to charge and my system performance has jumped a mile. After that i played some Test Drive Unlimited, and it ran perfectly fine.

Thanks for your help.
