I haven't personally "bought" from the outlet before, but I have had my computer replaced which means my current system is technically outlet material. So far it's worked perfectly and I've had it for 3 months now. I got one that has a scratch on it, but other than that it's in perfect condition. You'll love that system, for a bargain price.

This week I received a E1705 from the Outlet. It worked find, but had a rattle behind the screen. I emailed Dell and the next day a technician came to my office and fixed it.

Regards,
B.

Ive bought nothing but outlets for the past 3 years from Dell. I wouldnt be buying from outlets all this time if I had issues thats for sure.

The XPS in my sig came from the outlet about a month ago. I'll be sure to shop there again next time I'm ready to buy. That's a great price your getting there. I looked at the 1705 for about 2 weeks in the outlet but never saw one with a 7900 and a wuxga screen.

I have bought 25-odd computers off of the Outlet. The only problem I had was one 9300 had a lot of light leakage on the screen, and another had a loose wire to the LCD, which I fixed myself in a jiffy. The rest were perfect.

Outlet worked well for me. My m1210 is an outlet machine and it has worked just fine for me.

The only thing that makes it look non-brand new is the red sticker at the bottom, but if you cared, you could take that off easily. I would look to the outlet (and a coupon) for my next buy. You might not get exactly what you want unless you wait a long time, but you can get a nice system there.

Yeah, as ryotaro said, you can't really be picky when it comes to the outlet, but if you just give it a few weeks most likely you'll see a system close enough to what you want that you can buy it ^_^

Dell outlet is the shiz

Dell outlet used to suck because they didnt have the Letter verifier thing(where you have to type a seven number+letter code to actually add your product to the cart) . That meant that tons of ebayers were sitting on there waiting and refresing every second to get a laptop. I would see one laptop at a time on there and it would be for a split second. Now with the verifier, this deters those people and now you see well over 100 laptops at any moment for any give model. Whats this mean? Better deals!
I got a Core duo, 7900gs, 1gbddr2,80gbsata, atheros, 17"wuxga, dvdr, E1705 for a mere 800 bucks after taxes(using 10% off dell outlet code).

I flashed the gs and think it messed up the power because it would power on without the ac adapter plugged in. So dell gave me a new system and guess what? It was a core2duo! with better hd and better memory. So dell outlet rocks pretty hard. But only because theryr customer support rocks just as hard!

Oh and btw, scratch and dent systems tend to be a lil cheaper on outlet, however ive bought 3 different scratch and dent systems and none every had a blemish..looks brand new

actually i just took a quick look and 17"wuxga, 1gddr, 160gb hd, core 2 duo, bluetooth, wireless, dvdr, x1400 256mb video, for 818 before tax.

Just a quick question. Looking to maybe use the Dell Outlet to get a new system. When do they update the stock on the site?

They seem to update more than once a day....the one I got (just came today conicidently) was not on their list a few hours as I searched it...I happened to come accross it as I was browsing again...and thought to myself " I didn't find this one before...."

Anyhow...onto the good stuff...I got the new 1705 as desribed in my orginial post, looks brand new. I did take some time to order a BT 355 card and an intel 3945 off of ebay for a combine cost of about $60 bucks. I couldn't add them in very easily, (I could do the bluetooth via dell outlet, but they wanted 60 bucks alone for that). It was kinda nice, all the pieces arrived today...I quickly popped the the two cards in, swapped the 533 2gb ram for my 667 2gb ram in my 1505 and swapped over my DVD/RW DL Nec drive to the 1705, and put the 533 ram in the 1505 along with the HL DVD/RW drive. All done in about 25 minutes.

I axed Vista, in favor for MCE, I don't want to deal with the driver headaches and the nagging for everything I do when I am on the road. I'll reinstall the Vista when its a bit more mature. Another thing to note, and this happened with both the 1505 from Dell Home, and the 1705 from Dell Outlet. I got the backup OS DVD included on both, and both are slipstreamed disks that have SATA drivers on them, as well as differnet XP/Vista Licenses...so I got two XP MCE and Vista Prem Home Licenses with the computers...NICE!

One last note, the only thing that I can tell is, the vista certificate on the bottom is "worn" down to the chasis in the middle of the sticker...other than that the power cable looked like it had been used...but that is it...looks new enough for me.

All the outlet coupons I've put in are expried...

wait until the beginning of the month
I looked for a couple months and never found one that worked. in the end I just waited to see what I wanted and jumped on it. Saved about 600 bucks. You won't find me complaining about that.

dell outlet coupons are usually 10% off $800 and above, they usually come out with new ones around the 5th of each month but are limited to 400-500 uses...check everyday..the 100 bucks you save is worth it.
