thats not true, and i was wrong i think about sleeping, it does sleep. But when I come out of sleep it changes my screen resolution to 1024x768 in 16bit color which I do use sometimes for one certain thing but idk why it would automatically set to it.

that's odd...

That has been an issue for as long as I can remember. Not a big deal though

The no sleep on lid close issue was only a problem in XP and prior OS's. Vista has the detection of the lid magnet built into the OS now, as every driver I have tried (and I have tried most all of them now) has enabled the screen to properly power off with the lid shut. Don't ask me how they managed to get this working thru the OS, but its there. I cannot explain however, the fact that you are having the lid not shut off with this driver - as it has worked everytime for me...

Vista seems to do a much better job at tracking all file modifications and reg entries with drivers than XP did. In other words, if you run the uninstaller from the control panel it does an excellent job of cleanup itself. I have inspected the registry time and time again and found little to no trace of any driver remains after a complete uninstall. Here is my suggestion for uninstalling a Vista driver though... Before you uninstall from the "Programs and Features" tab in the Control Panel, go into the device manager and find your graphics adapter in the list. Double click it and head to the Driver tab. At the bottom (granted you are not using the stock Vista driver) the option for Uninstall should be listed. Click Uninstall, then check the box in the window that comes up that says "Delete the driver software for this device". Let the uninstaller run its course, and when it finishes you can uninstall the drivers through the control panel. This will pretty much ensure that everything gets wiped clean (at least from what I can tell... With that stated.... I LOVE THESE DRIVERS! I have been playing HL2:E1 and ES:Oblivion with maxxed out settings (all but 4x AA) and both games play smooth as glass - no stutter or lag. The IQ is absolutely wonderful on this driver compared to some others I have tried also. Overall these are big winners in my book.. the only gripe I am having at the moment is that the Digital Vibrance settings won't stick for me after a reboot... which sucks but I have gotten used to it since everything else is stable as can be. Anyway guys, test these babies out and let me know if you like em or not. I am anxious to hear your fond critisisms and any playful banter you may have to toss my way
Can someone please explain how I must uninstall my current driver and reinstall with the new NVIDIA driver if I only have the Microsoft Driver (7.15.10.9746) for my 7900GS. I just installed the video card yesterday (replacing an X1400) and did a clean install of Vista Business on my E1705. I did not install the Dell driver package or any software utilities related to the 7900GS at this point. I have read some mixed things on this thread so I am a little confused. I have only installed a couple more programs since the fresh format so I want to get this driver running before I install anymore. Should I just uninstall the current Microsoft Driver through Device Manager, then boot in safe mode to install the new one or does that driver cleaner program work in Vista? The sooner I can get help the better. Thanks everyone.
