I'm new, but I like to think of myself as 'not an idiot' so i spent the majority of last night searching forums like these for the answer, but now obviously I resort to asking my (probably stupid) question straight out. I'll just get right down to it, and if it's been asked before and I've just been too ignorant to be finding it, feel free to vent your internet rage on me and roar at me about my lack of experience foruming or what-have-you. Just... please, while you're doing that, tell me the answer to my question. And on we go!

I've got an Aspire (pretty) 9800 (vroom) and it's got a very clearly labelled port in the rear known as 'AV-in' which resembles an S-video slot with more pins, in case you were wondering. It's meant to take the red, white, and yellow all into the one port by a handy connection that just so happened to come with the laptop (did I say lap?).

Now, these red, white, and yellow jacks are coming from my Xbox 360. And I put them into their respective females and plug the AV-in to the AV-in. I turn on the console.

My question is 'now what?' What do I do on the laptop to switch the display so I can maybe see what's going on with the video games? I can't see anything at all. Is this AV-in only meant for recording video, and does that mean I won't be able to view it on the laptop's screen? Oh, please, help.
