The Dell's memory is clocked at 264. The sager unit's 9700 is clocked at 290 if i'm not mistaken. I'm not sure if that's what "makes the difference" - but for ha-ha's, i'll clock my GPU at 290 mem and see if there's a performance diff. Edit: Just did, 446/290 - 3dmark03 score is 3570 with omega.... 3898 with newest catalysts. Edit2: 290 mem is NOT stable. If in fact the sager's 9700 board is clocked at 290 memory, it's some kick-ass memory for sure.

For what it's worth I hit 4040 3dmarks 03 w/ my card at 530/315.

It is a glowing at the bottom of the screen that is mainly apparent on a black background. It appears to be a result of the lighting on the bottom coming up from the bottom of the screen. If you play a dvd, you will know instantly if your lcd is affected (because the bottom is black on dvd playback). I read about it on here first. I had it on my screen, but to be real honest, it didn't matter to me. The thread linked below has more information. On the system I had, I only really noticed it on boot up, and on dvd playback. If you have anymore questions, let me know. I will not be back on here until Sunday, but it is quite common on the dell screens, so you may get feedback prior to my return if you have further questions.

Edit 1 - here is another thread to refer too as well

Guys let's just say that you will be looking at 80-100% more performance on your laptop in a couple of months with a simple upgrade based on the stock
frequencies of the M11.
Yeah, uh, that's great and all... but just what's your association with Dell or ATI?

that's my secret dude !

Um--that would be groundbreaking.

well, uh... sorry guys. But it's way too easy to be ambiguous and make up stories for me to even entertain these rumors. If you were told this stuff, you should doubt it as much as I do.

The closest person I've got ties to at ATI is "MrB" from www.rage3d.com. He's on the horn with ATI every friggin day, the loon. He's not even making any of those outlandish claims And he's as big an ATI zealot as they get

It's all good Karl - you can believe what you want but it doesn't matter anyway since you already got your XPS

I haven't seen this mentioned before, but the clincher for me is: Dell offers financing and PC Torque does not. I would love to get a Sager, but as my current money situation goes, I think the Dells gonna get it.

I agree with karl those claims are outrageous. hey question for mnguyen how do u have a prescott and two hds in ur xps? I don't see those options on dell's website.
I put a prescott (just to see how it would do) in there and dell sells a modular hdd carrier that replaces your optical drive. they go on ebay for like 55 bucks.
I would trust MNguyen281 on this one, I have read his claims here and on the dell forums before and he was right all the time. Now i think i would be buying inspiron xps surely!
mnguyen so how is the prescott functioning in the xps? I'm thinking about xps or 8790 so that's why I'm wondering.
i'd stick with the Northwood for the 3.4ghz. Prescott is slower clock for clock (but far more scalable, much like the P4 was to the P3). Since Prescott is new, can't expect magic until it scales beyond what the Northwood can.
yea prescott is not worth it (just like how wilmette wuas). fortunately its not my chipa dn i didnt pahy for it so back to northwoor for me.
