battery life?

What kind of battery life are you guys getting on Vista? I'm not convinced Powermizer (or it's Vista equivalent) or Speedstep is working at all. I was trying to watch a DVD in media player classic and my laptop shut off after an hour an 40 minutes. It was at like 7% charge left. I had the screen brightness way down and I even made it so when I run MPC, it goes back to Windows Basic so it can't be Aero thats causing the drain.

What machine do you have again? I would get about the same if I had a movie playing the whole time it would be some what similar. Seems normal to me

M1710, 7900 GTX. Under XP i would get approx 2 hrs of a movie in, i also configured powermizer for max battery, and I knew that speedstep worked. I dunno what speed step or the video card does in terms of clocking down on battery in vista

with vista and rmclock installed, i actually got the battery meter saying 3 hours. realistically though, it's more around two and a half, but i think you can chalk that up to lack of powermizer and battery wear (you probably had xp before vista). so in the end, it should be the same or better, once nvidia cleans their act up.

-Tip... If you are only watching a movie disable the wireless & wifi. the wifi card puts a small drain on the system.(I get about an extra 15-20 minutes when I disabel both)

In the advanced power settings you can select a lower power state for the card as well.
