wireless router question

ok, currently I'm just using a regular fairly old router (not wireless) for a desktop, a laptop, and an xbox360 for internet access. I have comcast and the connection speed is excelent for all of them. I own a D-Link wirless router G 802.11g 54Mbps, and was thinking about hooking it up. I'm not really worried about loosing speedwith my laptop, because in my old apt. I had it hooked up and it worked fine, but I am concerened about my 360 loosing connection speed. my main question is: the 360 and desktop will still be plugged into the wirless router via ethernet chord, will the speed be affected at all or will it stay the same?

Stays the same, wired is a separate system inside the router. For optimal speed and condition, set hard code your ports, auto negotiate can cause collisions on some devices.

thanks. how would I go about hard coding my ports?? I have no idea what that means. but I shouldn;t worry about loosing signal for my360 right?

I don't think they were hard coded before and it worked fine.

don't worry about. any minor speed losses will not cause any issues in terms of lag most likely...so just hook it up and enjoy the games.

That depends, during high traffic periods ports will flip speeds in an attempt to re-negotiate, collisions will go up and performance will go down. If your router allows you to specify hard coded 100/full, then you should do it. If you're using gig-e then you can forget it. This is just an added bonus if your router supports it.
