Ok so I was attempting to OC a friends m9700 by flashing a modfied bios onto the gpu however like a ****ing moron I didnt backup the stock bios. Well the flashing failed and Im going to have to blind flash it back to the stock bios...there inlies the problem. I do not have the stock bios. If anyone out there could make a backup of their 7900 GS bios from their m9700 and send it to me (either link it or email it to cell_491@msn.com) I would appreciate it.

This is how you make a copy...
Download NiBitor and run it, then select Tools->Read Bios->Select Device to select the correct GPU (either will do, both BIOSes will be identical), Then go to Tools->Read Bios->Read into file to save the BIOS to a file

Just glad you got your friends m9700 back up and running cause it is a bad day when an m9700 isn't being used for some good gaming action.

Thing is the nvidia go 7900gs' in the m9700 are a bit different then most of the 7900gs' out there. Alienware tweaked them a little.

You can probably find a correct modified bios out there in order to oc the card however the gains won't be all that great in terms of game play in comparison to say a higher bench score. I've oc'd my cpu and gpu's but didn't see any real world gains except in 3dmark 05/06. It was when I updated my video driver that I saw my frame rates go up but my actual benchmark scores went down.

The AW 7900gs bios isn't locked. If you use modified drivers before they changed the Nvidia control panel (laptopvideo2go.com), you can overclock with coolbits.

Once Nvidia altered the control panel though, and you need N-tune to overclock, I haven't found a way to OC. N-tune doesn't work with the desktop drivers and the chipset in the m9700 apparently.

Good group here, thanks for helping this guy out.

if all else fails ATITool works flawlessly for me. have it set to only OC during 3d play, and you dont have to mess with any bios's. ClockGen works great for the processor.

Yes, GREAT group...for it was my 9700 that was in the can. My buddy said he volt modded his Dell 7900gs and said he had a bios mod for mine. What he didnt realize though until after he did it is that AW cards are a different revision then Dell Bios...so we had to blind flash everything...BIG MESS.

But thank you all for your help
