Some questions I would like helped answered

Im looking to buy a notebook with at least 2 gigs of ram and a nice graphcis card.

Im a gamer but will use it mostly for school

1) Is there really a significant difference between the Core 2 Duos of t5500 and t5600 (dif of like .2 hertz). And is the t5600 compared to t7200 (2mb vs 4mb) a significance difference)? basically, will i notice a difference between the three.

2) Im looking ot buy it from Gentechpc.com cause it got good reviews and is really cheap. Is there any other customizable websites that offer even cheaper? Ive looked everyone. I guess ibuypower and cyberpowerpc is cheaper, but ive read a lot of bad reviews on them.

3) Im looking at the asus s96 series, is there a difference between the Z series?

4) Is there any other nice customizable brands like asus (similar to s96)? or is asus like hands down good? ( in terms of price) cause for a very similar price i can get like a sony or dell computer with the same stuff.

5) would it be cheaper to just buy one gig of ram, and buy another gig of ram (of the same type of course) separately and install it on my own? is it easy to do?

im trying to spend less than 1400.

tons of questions (but 1400 is a lot of money, you would agree i hope)

thanks

With 1400$ you might want to try and forget about the gaming side of laptops... So, just pick anything that you like. It won't make a difference

Yes with 1400 $ you won't be able to get a good gaming laptop, you'll be able to get a good laptop but not a good gaming laptop.
1. It matters what your gonna be doing. Like if you do heavy Photoshop CS2 stuff then probably yes, but just word documents/email/internetz use then no
2. I have never heard of Gentechpc...

4. Asus is a really good laptop maker. They're solid, dependable, and overally good
5. Yeah just get like 1 GB of ram, then buy another 1 GB off of newegg

Just make sure your laptop only has a single stick of ram before buying another. If it has 2 you'll have to remove one and you'll be stuck with 1.5gb

Well, if you don't mind having only a 14" screen, you can pick up an Asus A8JP from newegg for $1229. Very high specs for a laptop of it's price and size.

Pick up an extra GB of ram and you should be able to get some gaming on.
